Our History

Friendly Hills Bank ("FHB") was founded in 2006 by a group of local business leaders who recognized the value of establishing a relationship focused bank for the local community. FHB opened for business on September 18, 2006 with an initial location in Whittier, California. The community welcomed this new institution and its professional business model to the marketplace and it soon became apparent that a second location was in order. Based on a well established track record for serving local businesses and professionals, FHB celebrated the grand opening of its office in Santa Fe Springs, California in October of 2008. FHB is organized as a Commercial Bank under the laws of the State of California and provides deposit insurance through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Community Banking Returns

The local area has an established history of supporting locally owned and managed financial institutions to better serve our residents and the business community. As these entities have become branches of larger institutions, a group of local business leaders recognized the opportunity to establish a new, publicly traded community bank. These leaders have demonstrated their commitment to this opportunity by stepping forward to offer their services as Directors of the new institution. While the history of the bank is short, the experience of the people behind it is extensive with five of the nine founding directors having previous experience as directors of other community banks in the area.

Since opening, FHB has been well received in its local communities and continues to expand its client base throughout Southern California. A strong commitment to customer service has helped attract consistent growth in client relationships which has fostered strength in both loans and deposits. With an entrepreneurial approach to the marketplace, an established reputation for rapid response and the ability to adjust to market conditions, FHB plans to expand when and where opportunities arise.
